Good afternoon gang. I just saw Willow’s email and it reminded me to email everyone – I am on my way out! I have accepted the Planning/Development Director position for Johnson City, Tennessee. Yes, this old Tennessee boy is on his way home (sort of – Chattanooga is home).

Sending love and hugs and high-fives to my incredible cohort – God speed to all of you and blessings to your families. As an old trucker once told me at a Waffle House along I-10 in east Texas, back in ’97, while I was delivering a rental car to Lubbock, “don’t dump it, young blood, don’t dump it.”

I may be out of the state and away from UNC-SOG now, but never too far for an email or call. Feel free to reach out anytime (or find me on FB or LinkedIn).

And Willow… you da best. Right on.

LGFCU Fellows Alumni Workshop: Register Now!
February 4-5, 2019
Rizzo Conference Center, Chapel Hill, NC

Please join us for the LGFCU Fellows Alumni Workshop! We are excited for the upcoming Alumni workshop that will revisit and deepen the leadership practices we learned in the Leading for Results class while also providing new tools and strategies for success! Plus it will provide for a great opportunity to connect with colleagues from your cohort and other alumni. On Monday afternoon we will learn from Dr. Paul White, internationally recognized speaker and author of The Five Languages of Appreciation in the Workplace (https://www.appreciationatwork.com/<https://linkprotect.cudasvc.com/url?a=https%3a%2f%2fwww.appreciationatwork.com%2f&c=E,1,cg0apzxcPiheWcXGM6OHX-okw4UWYcPhXwto_fiuO_1u9C2UDbBa3HuSLrextwooELuMD71b0tDLGcTL2Vn1svwTt9n_ZYBUMqVphEVE5OE,&typo=1>). This session will expand and add new resources for approaching the practice of Encourage the Heart. You will learn what your primary language of appreciation is as well as gain new practices and techniques to engage those with different appreciation preferences.

On Tuesday morning we will spend timing exploring the topic of resiliency with Dr. Patrick Jeffs, co-owner of NC Center for Resiliency. The stress and pressures on you all seem to only be getting more intense. This session will include practical and applicable skills and practices to help manage and respond to the stress and pressure you face. Dr. Jeffs focuses on providing effective organizational or individual resiliency training. In his training he works with groups to identify ways to expand and deepen current resilience competencies and find opportunities to grow areas of resilience that are otherwise underutilized for the sustainability and success of an organization, its employees and partners, and those they serve.
The workshop will start at 1:00 on February 4th and conclude at 1:00 on February 5th (in time for those of your attending the NCCCMA Winter Seminar to make it to the opening sessions). In addition to the workshop there will be a networking reception on the evening of the 4th.

We are looking forward to seeing you in February!
