The Kernersville CANNONS Kick Off Their First Season

Kernersville, March 23, 2009-The Kernersville Cannons faced the TYLA Rattlers in the first game of their inaugural season yesterday at Cannons Field with a crowd of at least 100 to experience the action.  The spectators weren't disappointed.  The Cannons came out strong in the first half with Jack Dean and Gabe Price each scoring a goal but the Rattlers held them in the second half.  When the smoke cleared, each team walked away with two penalties and the score was 2-7 to the Rattlers.  The Cannons goalie, Jared Harbaugh, left the first game with an impressive sixteen saves under his belt.  It's guaranteed that eighteen Kernersville Cannons will explode on the field against Hickory next Saturday.  That game will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Cannon Field, which is located at Pine Tree Golf Course on Teague Lane.   This is definitely a spectator sport that will keep you hanging on the edge of your seat.  Think of soccer, hockey, and football all rolled into one.  It's a fast-paced sport and these kids have hit the ground running in Kernersville.  Come out and support the Cannons.
Quote from the coach, Kevin Bugg-"I'm very proud of my guys.  This is a new team that held their own against an experienced team.  They just get better and better every week."  Coach Bugg can be contacted at 406-2681.  Cannons practice on Monday and Thursdays from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Cannon Field.
