Interesting…. AT&T is telling me that other cities are not charging permit fees – specifically Electrical permits. Little do they know, my TRITLA BFFs will call them out. Shame on you AT&T! ☺

In Winston-Salem we currently are not charging anything; however, the language in the City Code allows for us to charge $100 per facility for the first five facilities in an application plus $50 for each additional facility. This is one of the options allowed by state statute, NCGS 160A-400.54 (e) (iii). The maximum number of facilities per application is 25. There has only been about a dozen sites approved but we will probably need to start charging these fees. Two companies have indicated that they will be installing approximately 400-550 facilities in the next 18-24 months.

There would also be an electrical permit fee of $65 - $120, depending on whether or not the metered service is existing or new.

Thanks, Tom

Jane,

Please find the responses below from my City Engineer and Inspections Director.

We charge a $75 permit fee for the ROW Use permit.

The electrical permit will cost $52.00 and if a building permit is required it will be based on the cost of the job - usually a $52.00 permit also.

Thanks,
Scott

Are any of you charging AT&T permit fees for small cell installations? Electrical permit or any other fees for small cell?

Thanks ,

Good afternoon Folks,

Reaching out regarding a few items.

I was hoping to discuss potential dates for our next regular meeting after our meeting with AIG at the PTRC facility on September 5. Sorry, that did not happen. I stayed away from October because of the NCLGISA conference, Smart Cities conference, and other events that some of you have shared. I would like to get back together in November before the Thanksgiving holidays. I am looking at November 6, 7, and 14 as possible dates to meet, 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. Would you please let me know if any of these dates are bad for you to either attend in person or call in on a conference line. At this time I do not have a location locked in, default will be here in Winston-Salem.

Next topic – I have been asked to present at a session at the NCLGISA conference regarding our organization. This is scheduled for Wednesday October 23 at 1:30. I will share on who we are and how we formed as an organization, our goals, types of items on our agendas, and some specific activities such aa the session with AIG. I would like to share some input and comments from our members. If there is any input that you are willing to share regarding the group, the value it brings you individually and your government organization, or any general comments please let me know. You will remain anonymous if so desired, otherwise I may share your name. This will be a good opportunity to share our model for regional IT leadership collaboration with our friends and peers throughout the state, get the group some visibility, and provide a talking point that you can share back in your office with your leaders.

Thanks !!!

Tom
